Hokkaido SAKAGURA Tourism is a combination of
“Sake Brewery + Ainu Culture + Adventure Travel,”
a journey of learning about Japan’s unique culture
and adventure in the great outdoors

As of 2021, there are 15 sake breweries in Hokkaido, and they use rich water and three types of rice to brew light, dry sake that is typical of Hokkaido. You can visit sake breweries spread all over Hokkaido, learn about the thoughts of the brewers behind the sake brewed there, and have a luxurious time enjoying local sake with local cuisine. We will also learn about the role of sake in the Ainu culture, which is unique to Hokkaido, and gently touch the spiritual world of the indigenous Ainu people. This is the beginning of an adventure to feel the great nature of Hokkaido, the northernmost land in Japan where local sake is brewed and the Ainu culture takes root.
