There, you will learn about the history and activities of the fishermen in Yoichi from a guide who has been involved in Hokkaido’s fishing industry for a long time. After learning about the fishing industry in Yoichi, you will head to a sushi restaurant while exploring the town. In this program, you can make your own sushi using fresh seafood from Yoichi.     Meet your guide at Yoichi Station. After a brief orientation, walk to the bus stop.
  • 11:00
    Take a local bus to the port. After getting off the bus and walking for about 10 minutes, you will arrive at the port.
  • 11:30
    Join us for a walk in the fishing port. Our guide is a former fisheries extension specialist with extensive knowledge of Hokkaido’s fishing industry. He will share with us the history and operations of Yoichi’s fishing port. We will also visit Minami Shotaro Shoten, a local shop that has been smoking fish for generations.
  • 13:00
    Take the local bus again and go to the sushi restaurant.
  • 13:40
    Learn how to make and enjoy sushi with fresh seafood. You will be taught by the owner, who has been running a sushi restaurant in this area for a long time.
  • 15:10
    Walk back to Yoichi Station and say goodbye.
