Hiroko Tanaka Guide, Toyoura Travel & Feel

Born in Sapporo, Hiroko Tanaka now lives in Toyoura.
After graduating from junior college, she worked for a television station as a director of news programs. In 2014, she spent a year studying English in the UK and began working as a tour guide in Hokkaido and beyond when she returned to Japan. Driven by a desire to use tourism as a means to promote local communities, she moved to Toyoura and began working at Toyoura Travel & Feel. Hiroko works with local people involved in fishing and agriculture to provide visitors with experiences that are unique to Toyoura in addition to creating guidebooks, maps and handmade props to explain salmon and scallop fishing.
