Canoe Touring in Bekanbeushigawa River
This wetland canoe tour follows an easy route on the Bekanbeushi River, making it ideal for beginners. As you row through the vast Bekanbeushi River Marsh, you’ll see rare wildlife such as red-crowned cranes, Yezo sika deer and white-tailed eagles. With no man-made structures like roads to be seen and sounds except the wildlife, this tour is the perfect escape from the daily grind.
The wetland around the Bekanbeushi River supplies valuable nutrients, which then flow downstream to the brackish waters of Lake Akkeshi. This provides the ideal conditions for oysters, and the area is famous for its delicious oysters. At the end of the tour, a local oyster fisherman will teach you how to shuck oysters in his stylish bar, while sharing fascinating facts about the wetland and the oysters that live there.
