The Shikotsu-Toya National Park is one of six national parks in Hokkaido. Located in southwestern Hokkaido, the park is characterized by volcanic mountains centered around the calderas of Lake Shikotsu and Lake Toya. The Jozankei area, accessible within one hour from central Sapporo, is also included in the national park. Jozankei offers beautiful valley scenery and is a hot spring resort area. Here water seeps deep into the earth and hot springs created by the heat of the earth well up throughout the rich natural environment and the forests created by old volcanic mountain terrain. Go snowshoeing to explore the valley and snow rafting while contemplating the blessings of volcanoes in the harsh winter landscape.
